Hi, I'm Melanie Gerath, and I am on a mission to promote holistic well-being and a healthier life for all!
As a certified health and life coach I take a whole body approach to health. Mind, Body, and Soul. Yes I said Soul, because we are a spirit inside of a physical body. Have you ever heard the saying that feeds my soul? The number one thing is living your Life Purpose. Disease starts in the mind. Dis-ease means you are not at ease with something. Research shows serious health diseases like Heart Disease, Diabetes and Cancer can be caused by stress hence the saying stress is a killer. So what do we do to cope?
Anything can get out of balance in life and can become an addiction. Addiction is a strong physical or psychological need or urge to do something or use something even if you know it causes you harm. Workaholic, shopaholic, alcoholic, nicotine, caffeine, stimulants, food, sugar, sports, TV, gaming, sex, pornography, internet, even mobile devices just to name a few. A healthy lifestyle is living in balance and doing good things that feed your Mind, Body, and Soul. The things that can get out of balance in my life are shopping, and alcohol. Improving my relationship with others and with God has helped me immensely.
Why Am I So Passionate About Whole Food Plant Based?
It’s good for the planet, the people, and the animals!
Animal agriculture causes lots of greenhouse gases leading to climate change, deforestation, pollution, and antibiotic resistance. It uses lots of natural resources like water, land and food (corn, wheat, and soy). Over 90% of farmed animals in the world are raised in Factory Farms including fish.
Why is Factory Farming unhealthy? Confinement and overcrowding. Harmful bacteria, pesticides, antibiotics, and artificial hormones. How healthy can an animal be in these conditions? How healthy can a human be eating these animals? Eat less animals and animal products. When you eat meat, try and make sure you get less processed and buy local.
Eat more plants please!
I am passionate about cooking, being active, and plant powered foods. I love to show people how healthy food tastes good and being active can be fun. Having a spiritual connection to God and my fellow man is number one. Without it I kept buying things that I loved but did not love me back. I felt empty inside and knew I was missing something. Being healthy on the outside is just one part. Being healthy on the inside is the most important.
I messed with the body God gave me and I payed the price, my body fell apart. I learned a lot and now I coach everything I have learned and experienced. I created my own programs to define what healthy is and help people achieve it. Medication does not cure it manages.
There is no one health hack, or superfood, or vitamin that will make you healthy. It is an overall lifestyle that is a combination of consistent healthy habits. Stop looking to famous people or models to define beauty, success, or what’s right for you. Doctors prescribe medication and do surgery. They have little to no education in nutrition. Doctors have important roles in healthcare, but you play the most important role in your health everyday with your habits.
